Welcome to Operation Resolve
Operation Resolve is the criminal investigation into the Hillsborough disaster.
On 15 April 1989, Liverpool played Nottingham Forest in a FA Cup Semi Final at Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield. As a result of events at the Leppings Lane end of the ground, 96 Liverpool fans died and hundreds more were injured.
Following the publication of a report in 2012 by the Hillsborough Independent Panel, the then Home Secretary Theresa May, ordered a new criminal inquiry and Operation Resolve was formed.
In December 2016, Operation Resolve handed over files of evidence relating to 15 suspects to the Crown Prosecution Service who are expected to make charging decisions in the Summer of 2017.
